Yoake no Joshou

Yoake no Joshou is a collection of three interconnected two-part one-shots that follow the life and relationships of Kai Kiichi. In the first story, Third Term, Someone Else's Right Hand, Kiichi’s older brother is temporarily transferred to India for work. Left without his sibling, Kiichi moves in with his family’s landlord, sharing a home with the landlord's son, Niina. Although the two boys are high school classmates, they come from entirely different worlds, setting the stage for an unlikely dynamic as they navigate their new living arrangement together. The narrative continues in Farewell, Faraway Right Hand, where Kiichi has since entered the workforce. His daily routine becomes a source of frustration when an obnoxious coworker makes his professional life miserable, eventually demanding that Kiichi deliver a speech at his upcoming wedding. This unwanted request forces Kiichi to confront the difficult interpersonal tensions that plague his adult life. In the final installment, Daylight Prologue, Kiichi’s older brother, Koichi, finally returns home from his extended stay in India. However, the long-awaited reunion takes an unexpected and painful turn. Despite being back, Koichi refuses to see Kiichi, leaving him to grapple with confusion and heartache as he tries to understand why his brother is keeping him at a distance after so much time apart.
