Ael is a compassionate and principled mermaid whose life changes forever when he discovers Ort, a lost young mermaid, adrift in the ocean. Taking the boy under his wing, Ael raises him with unwavering devotion. Under this careful guidance, Ort grows into adulthood, but his deep attachment to his caretaker twists into an all-consuming obsession. Even as a fully grown merman, Ort refuses to leave Ael’s side, constantly lingering in his presence and clinging to a bond that has long outgrown its original shape. Recognizing the unhealthy nature of their dynamic, Ael finally attempts to encourage Ort’s independence. However, this gentle push toward separation ignites a fierce rage within Ort, who views Ael not merely as a guardian but as his destined companion. Betrayed by the thought of being sent away, Ort decides to prove exactly how irreplaceable he considers Ael to be, forcing him to experience the terrifying depth of his devotion firsthand. Slowly, Ael finds his autonomy and sanity slipping away under the weight of Ort’s possessive grip. What began as a nurturing relationship between a figure akin to a father or older brother has transformed into an inescapable entanglement, leaving their ultimate fate hanging in the balance.
