In a devastated future, humanity struggles to survive against the Earless, mysterious shadowy entities that have ravaged civilization. The world’s only line of defense lies with the Players, celebrated warriors who pilot powerful mecha called Equipment. These elite fighters not only protect the remnants of society but also enjoy immense fame and wealth for their heroic efforts. Among those who admire them is Echo, a resourceful young mechanic who dreams of working alongside the Players. Despite constructing his own rudimentary mecha from salvaged parts, he has largely accepted a bleak existence in the sprawling scrap heaps that now dominate the ruined landscape. Echo’s fate changes dramatically when he encounters Mu, an amnesiac girl bearing a mechanical port on her back—a definitive mark of a Player. Their unexpected meeting sparks a deep bond between the two outcasts. United by newfound purpose, Echo and Mu pledge to combine his technical ingenuity with her latent abilities. Together, they set out to challenge the Earless and fight for a broken world desperate for hope.
