A Destructive God Sits Next to Me

Seri Koyuki simply wants to experience an ordinary high school life, free from unnecessary drama or eccentric encounters. However, his hopes for a peaceful academic routine are quickly shattered when he finds himself constantly drawn into the bizarre orbit of his classmate, Kabuto Hanadori. Rather than navigating typical teenage challenges, Seri is forced into the exhausting role of the rational voice trying to anchor a peer who lives entirely within a world of self-constructed fantasy. Kabuto is a deeply delusional student whose imagination knows no bounds. His elaborate daydreams shift unpredictably, ranging from the belief that he is a noble knight embarking on an epic quest to the dramatic assertion that removing his eyepatch will unleash a dangerous, darker alter ego known as Michael Offenbarung Dunkelheit. These grandiose claims turn everyday classroom interactions into surreal spectacles, leaving those around him bewildered and overwhelmed by his relentless theatricality. Determined to maintain his sanity, Seri resolves not to be swept up in Kabuto’s eccentricities or pushed around by his overwhelming personality. Yet, as the days progress, resisting the gravitational pull of Kabuto's absurd antics proves to be a far greater challenge than Seri ever anticipated, turning his pursuit of normalcy into an unexpectedly comedic struggle.
