Boy with Child

In a deeply unconventional narrative, a young boy finds himself facing the unimaginable reality of pregnancy. What begins as a startling physical transformation quickly evolves into a grueling personal ordeal, as he must endure the intense pain and exhaustion of severe morning sickness. His condition isolates him, forcing him to navigate a world that is entirely unprepared for his existence. Beyond the physical toll on his body, the boy is subjected to a relentless barrage of societal prejudice. Those around him react with judgment and hostility, creating an environment fraught with discrimination and emotional hardship. Despite the overwhelming adversity and the constant weight of public scrutiny, he perseveres through the arduous journey of his condition. Ultimately, his resilience leads him to the profound and life-altering moment of giving birth, bringing his extraordinary struggle full circle. Boy with Child is an animated short film produced as a 2020 graduate work from Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation.
