In 1863, Japan stands on the precipice of monumental change as the age of the samurai draws to a close. The nation is deeply fractured between pro-shogunate and anti-shogunate factions, but an even greater threat looms beyond the political strife. An army of historical revisionists has been dispatched from the future with the singular goal of altering the course of history itself, endangering the very fabric of the world. To thwart these temporal invaders and safeguard the true timeline, a sage known as the Saniwa breathes life into legendary blades, manifesting them as powerful sword spirits. Two such warriors rush to Edo to confront the crisis: the courteous and contemplative Horikawa Kunihiro, and his fiercely skilled yet quick-tempered counterpart, Izuminokami Kanesada. Bound by their past service to the same master, they join forces with a vibrant cadre of fellow swordsmen, including Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Yagen Toushirou, Tombokiri, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga. Together, this formidable ensemble stands as the final line of defense against those who would rewrite the past. With the fate of human history resting squarely upon their shoulders, the ultimate outcome of their battle remains unwritten, waiting to be revealed at the edge of their blades.
