Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

On August 10, 2010, by the Imperial Calendar, the Holy Empire of Britannia launched a war against Japan. Overwhelming the nation with its superior military might, Britannia stripped Japan of its freedom, its rights, and even its very name. Now designated as Area 11, its inhabitants are contemptuously referred to as Elevens. Lelouch Lamperouge, a Britannian high school student who often cuts class to indulge in gambling, is suddenly caught in the crossfire between a rebel faction and the imperial military. In the chaos, he encounters a mysterious girl named C.C., who bestows upon him the Geass—the "Power of Kings." Adopting the identity of the masked revolutionary Zero, Lelouch is compelled to confront his childhood friend Suzaku as he wages his campaign to transform the empire from within.
