Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack

Following its conquest by the Holy Britannian Empire using formidable mechanized weapons known as Knightmare Frames, Japan has been stripped of its sovereignty, redesignated as Area 11, and its citizens labeled "Elevens." During the invasion, a young Britannian resident named Lelouch made a solemn promise to his Japanese friend, Suzaku, that he would one day obliterate Britannia. Years later, Lelouch has grown into a high school student who frequently cuts class to place bets on his own chess matches. His routine is shattered when he inadvertently crosses paths with Eleven terrorists who have stolen a top-secret military asset. Caught at the scene by Suzaku—now a soldier in the Britannian task force dispatched to retrieve the stolen cargo—events spiral out of control. Suzaku is gunned down by his comrades for defying orders, while the military secret, revealed to be a mysterious young girl, bestows upon Lelouch the power of absolute obedience. Harnessing this newfound ability, Lelouch assumes command of the insurgents and systematically crushes the incoming Britannian forces. Meanwhile, a surviving Suzaku is covertly appointed as the pilot of Britannia’s cutting-edge prototype Knightmare Frame, the Lancelot. As Lelouch adopts the masked persona of Zero to spearhead an armed uprising against the empire, Suzaku takes up arms on the opposing side. While the main storyline centers on Lelouch, this series chronicles the conflict from Suzaku's perspective.
