In a world where vampires are a dangerous reality, humanity has managed to suppress them and reclaim the night. However, some have evolved to survive. Over centuries, a new breed known as Hesperides has adapted to endure the weak sunlight of dusk, emerging during this twilight hour to prey on humans. High school student Aburaya Shiro lives in a town that has been free of vampire attacks for years, yet adults still strictly warn against venturing outside at dusk. When Shiro and his classmates dismiss these cautions and go out during twilight, they discover that a seemingly familiar peer is actually a Hesperides. As his friends are brutally slaughtered, Shiro survives only through the intervention of another classmate, Ichijoji Eruka, who appears to be something other than human.
