In the seaside town of Acassi, where an octopus delicacy is a regional specialty, Lina and Gourry find themselves entangled in a bizarre incident. The octopus meat they partake in is cursed, causing the four companions - Lina, Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadiss - to fall under a strange affliction, rendering them unable to speak anything but the octopus language. As the townspeople and the octopi seek to rid themselves of the humans, the latter enlist the aid of a powerful mazoku, prompting Ruma, a white sorceress, to embark on a quest to uncover the antidote to the curse from her long-lost master, thereby saving the town from impending chaos.
