3000 Leagues in Search of Mother

Adapted from a segment of Edmondo De Amicis’s Italian novel Cuore, this story follows Marco, a young boy living in Genoa with his father, Pietro. The family has been separated for nearly a year since Marco’s mother departed for Argentina to seek employment. Although she initially maintained regular correspondence, her letters abruptly cease, leaving Marco consumed by worry over her safety and well-being. Determined to find her, he resolves to travel to Argentina alone. While Pietro is initially reluctant to permit such a perilous undertaking, he is ultimately swayed by his son’s unwavering dedication and grants him permission to depart. Thus begins an arduous journey defined by emotional resilience. Throughout his travels, Marco encounters a diverse array of individuals whose influence guides him toward greater maturity and self-acceptance.
