Suicide Line

As a child, homicide detective Kuroda endured an unspeakable horror: days spent trapped inside a house with the lifeless bodies of his own family. That waking nightmare carved a permanent scar into his psyche, but it also forged a grotesque gift—an olfactory sensitivity to death so acute that he can track the scent of a corpse faster than any officer on the force. He carries this burden into every investigation, a living reminder of the past that refuses to fade. Now assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department's newly established Special Search & Investigations Office—better known as the S&I Office—Kuroda is tasked with unraveling the department's most perplexing missing persons cases. There, he crosses paths with Ikaga, a brilliant criminal profiler whose talent lies in a different race entirely: while Kuroda can find the deceased in record time, Ikaga can psychologically close in on the perpetrator with equal speed. Together, they form an unconventional pairing, chasing two sides of the same bloody coin. As they delve into cases that defy conventional logic, the line between the living and the dead blurs. Kuroda's quest for closure clashes with Ikaga's cold pursuit of justice, forcing both men to confront not only the horrors of the present but the ghosts that have shaped them. This is a police suspense where every scent is a clue, every profile a weapon, and every step forward brings them closer to the abyss.
