Within the Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division operates a specialized task force known simply as "The Eighth." Officially designated as the Eighth Criminal Investigation Unit, this elite squad was established to confront the most vicious and unconventional crimes that defy standard law enforcement. Functioning as both a suppression unit and an execution force, its members are tasked with neutralizing threats that ordinary officers cannot handle. Among these highly trained operatives stands Chigira Hinato, a detective whose outward demeanor sharply contrasts with his professional reputation. To those who observe him, he appears perpetually bewildered, carrying himself with an air of confusion that seems entirely unsuited for the brutal realities of his work. Yet, beneath this disarming exterior lies an investigator boasting an exceptionally high arrest rate, making him one of the most effective assets within the entire division. This stark contradiction between his clueless appearance and his flawless record raises unsettling questions among his peers. As The Eighth continues to face increasingly dangerous and bizarre criminal elements, the mystery surrounding Chigira deepens. What hidden truth drives his unparalleled success in the field, and what profound secret lies behind the astonishing arrest rate of a man who always seems so lost?
