Host to Shachiku

Naoto Suzuki lives his life by the train timetable. Every morning he boards the first train into the city, and every night he drags himself back home on the very last one, trapped in an endless cycle of work that leaves no room for anything else. His days blur together, each one an exact copy of the last, and the monotony has become as much a part of him as his morning commute. One ordinary day, on his way to the office, Suzuki stops in at his usual beef bowl restaurant in Kabukicho to order his customary breakfast set. But this time, the routine is quietly broken: seated at the same counter is a cheerful host, fresh off a long night of entertaining and finally on his way home. While Suzuki's day is only just beginning, the host's night has only just ended—two men living on completely opposite schedules, briefly sharing the same counter in the early hours. What unfolds is a warm, gentle tale built around a small morning ritual: the fifteen minutes each day when these two opposite worlds happen to overlap. In the quiet hush of dawn, an unassuming beef bowl restaurant becomes the unlikely meeting point where one man's daybreak collides with another's long-awaited night's end.
