Kingyo no Ubugoe

On the secluded shores of Sato Island, two men share an existence suspended in quiet tension. Tomohisa and Yuta live a solitary life together, their days marked by a fragile routine that masks an unspoken dread. Yuta once suffered a devastating memory loss that left him utterly helpless, his mind regressed to the blank slate of infancy. Everything he knew—every relationship, every experience, every trace of his former self—was erased, forcing him to relearn the simplest acts of living under Tomohisa's unwavering care. Yet their tranquil isolation is built upon a chilling condition. "If your memory returns, I can no longer be with you." Tomohisa's murmured warning hangs over Yuta like a guillotine. While Yuta grasps for fragments of his forgotten past, desperate to piece together who he was, Tomohisa remains the steadfast guardian who actively prays for that history to stay buried. His nurturing hands and gentle demeanor conceal a resolute determination to keep Yuta's identity sealed, protecting a secret that grows heavier with each passing day. Why does Tomohisa fear the return of Yuta's consciousness so deeply? What catastrophic truth lurks behind his careful vigilance, and what role did he play in the disaster that stripped Yuta of himself? As fleeting recollections begin to stir within Yuta's mind, the fragile peace of Sato Island threatens to shatter. The closer he comes to reclaiming his past, the closer he drifts toward losing the only anchor he has left—and the man who saved him may very well be the reason he was lost in the first place.
