Misaki-kun wa Kouryaku Chara ja Nai

This is the world of a dating sim game, where every character has a part to play. Izumi Misaki understands his role perfectly: as the best friend of the story's main character, Seita Kihara, he is meant to stand loyally at Kihara's side, offering encouragement and support while his friend pursues the heroine of the game. On paper, it is the ideal supporting role—dependable, devoted, and safely outside the romance itself. There is only one complication. No matter how faithfully Misaki plays his part, Kihara seems far more interested in Misaki than in the heroine he is supposed to be winning over. The loyal best friend was never meant to be a candidate for anyone's affection, yet Kihara's attention keeps drifting somewhere the script never intended. So which is it—friendship, or love? A bright, charming comedy about a boy's true feelings, this series traces the awkward, heart-fluttering moments that arise when the boundaries of a dating sim begin to blur and a story meant to follow one romance threatens to take an entirely unexpected turn.
