Serial Experiments Lain

Lain Iwakura, a shy and introverted fourteen-year-old girl, receives a disturbing email from her classmate Chisa Yomoda, who recently took her own life. Despite her lack of experience with technology, Lain's curiosity gets the better of her, and she delves into the Wired, a virtual world of communication networks that blurs the lines between reality and cyberspace. As she navigates this surreal realm, Lain encounters a series of enigmatic events and mysterious figures known as the Men in Black, who seem to know more about her than she knows about herself. With her perceptions of reality and identity challenged, Lain is forced to confront the consequences of her actions in both the real world and the Wired.
