Kono Setsugen de Kimi ga Zutto Waratteirareru You ni

"Now that you've escaped from all your suffering, I'll make sure you know happiness for the rest of your life." Shiroshika Muku's childhood came to an end ten years ago, when her father passed away, her best friend moved to Tokyo, and she, along with her mother and younger sister, went to live with her grandparents. Now twenty-one years old, Muku is struggling to fill the role her father left behind—and she is drowning. She cares for her grandfather, who suffers from dementia, while searching for a new job after the company she joined straight out of high school went bankrupt, needing income to cover both his medical bills and her sister's school fees. At home, she helps her mother with the housework, only to endure her grandmother's constant reproaches that she is inadequate simply for being a woman, and that a man's presence is essential. Muku longs to break free and live for herself before she begins to resent the very family she loves so deeply, yet with nowhere to turn, that escape seems impossible. That is, until her childhood friend Yuto returns after a decade away, on a snowy day.
