Summary

Official Details
This tender collection brings together four one-shot stories, each unfolding in a different season and exploring the fragile beauty of human connection, unspoken affection, and the quiet ache of time. In Hanauta Nagaruru (Overhearing a Flower Song), schoolgirl Shima finds herself drawn to the sound of guitar drifting from an old abandoned building on campus. The musician is Fujimura—a boy notorious for his frequent fights, yet surprisingly gentle beneath his rough exterior. Captivated by the melody, Shima soon approaches him and begins taking guitar lessons, opening the door to an unexpected bond. The title story, Hotarubi no Mori e (Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light), follows young Hotaru Takegawa, who becomes lost in the woods at age six and is rescued by Gin, a mysterious young man wearing a mask. Gin warns her that he is no longer human—if ever touched by a person, he will vanish forever. Despite this, Hotaru returns to visit him every summer, and as the years pass, she blossoms into a teenager while Gin remains unchanged. Yet her childhood wonder deepens into something far more complicated as she comes to terms with feelings that can never be physically expressed. In Kurukuru Ochiba (The Falling of Autumn Leaves), Tsubaki Kemumaki reflects on her eleven-year friendship with Kaede Kirisato, the lonely son of wealthy, often-absent parents. After Kaede survived a childhood kidnapping attempt, Tsubaki vowed to stand by his side as his protector. But as they grow older, she begins to realize that her devotion stems not from a sense of duty, but from a love that transcends their long history together. The final piece, Hibi, Fukaku (Deepening the Scar), revisits the strained relationship between siblings Ritsu and Sou Jinnai. Once inseparable in childhood, they were torn apart when their parents' constant fighting led Sou to move away with their father. Eight years later, a joyful reunion cannot hide the distance that has grown between them—and Ritsu finds herself troubled by an unfamiliar, painful flutter in her heart every time she looks at her brother, forcing her to confront emotions she never expected.
