Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

Amidst a world undergoing a rapid industrial revolution, humanity faces a terrifying threat: monstrous creatures known as Kabane. These undead beings can only be destroyed by piercing their iron-caged hearts, and a single bite from them is enough to transform ordinary humans into aggressive, mindless monsters. On the far-eastern island of Hinomoto, survivors have retreated into fortified stations for protection, relying on massive steam-powered locomotives called Hayajiro to safely transport goods and passengers between these isolated strongholds. Within the Aragane station lives Ikoma, a young engineer who helps construct the Hayajiro trains. Driven by determination, he secretly develops a specialized weapon named the Tsuranukizutsu, designed specifically to pierce the impenetrable hearts of the Kabane. While awaiting the chance to test his invention, Ikoma encounters a mysterious girl named Mumei, who is inexplicably exempt from the mandatory Kabane inspections required of all travelers. That very night, disaster strikes when an incoming Hayajiro spirals out of control, its crew having been transformed into the ravenous undead. As the Kabane swarm the station and plunge it into chaos, Ikoma finally confronts the nightmare he has long prepared for, seizing his desperate opportunity to unleash his weapon and fight back against the horde.
