Sentiero

Sentiero marks a notable return to war fiction for creator Inariya, presenting a somber narrative set against the brutal backdrop of the Eastern Front during the final stages of World War II. The story focuses intimately on the experiences of two Italian soldiers stationed in Russia as the conflict draws to its devastating close. Rather than depicting grand military strategies or heroic victories, the manga grounds its perspective in the personal struggles and harsh realities faced by individuals caught in the collapsing Axis campaign on Soviet territory. The narrative explores the profound psychological and physical toll exacted upon these men as they navigate an unforgiving landscape defined by extreme cold, isolation, and impending defeat. As the war enters its last days, the protagonists must confront not only the external dangers of combat but also the internal weight of their circumstances in a theater often overlooked in mainstream media. This focused character study offers a poignant examination of camaraderie, survival, and the human cost of conflict, distinguishing itself through its specific historical setting and dedication to portraying the authentic hardships endured by Italian troops during one of history’s most catastrophic military engagements.
