Zashiki Warashi no Dairinin

Tsukasa is a writer who travels to the remote Tono Ryokan, an inn rumored to be haunted by a Zashiki-Warashi. Upon arriving at this secluded establishment bordering the supernatural world, he discovers that the inn has become a gathering place for various Youkai and apparitions. Rather than simply investigating the local legends as he originally intended, Tsukasa unexpectedly finds himself acting as an agent for the Zashiki-Warashi, tasked with resolving the escalating troubles caused by the spirits drawn to the location. His journey into the unknown takes a stranger turn when he encounters a precocious boy gifted with the ability to see apparitions. Guided by this mysterious child, Tsukasa is thrust into a series of bizarre events involving a cheerful kappa and other enigmatic beings like Kure. Through these encounters, he gradually learns to understand and communicate with the Youkai, bridging the gap between the human and spirit worlds. However, despite the boy’s helpful guidance, Tsukasa cannot shake the feeling that his young companion is concealing a deeper secret, hinting at hidden motives behind every strange occurrence they face together.
