The Darwin Incident

Charlie is a fifteen-year-old "Humanzee," a unique hybrid of human and chimpanzee DNA engineered within a biological science laboratory. Despite his extraordinary origins, he has been nurtured by loving adoptive parents who have provided him with a stable upbringing. Now entering high school, Charlie attempts to navigate the challenges of adolescence while striving for an ordinary existence. His efforts toward normalcy gain new meaning when he crosses paths with Lucy, an intelligent but solitary classmate who ultimately becomes his very first true friend. However, the fragile peace Charlie has built begins to unravel as shadows from his past resurface. Fifteen years earlier, a radical group of animal rights extremists liberated his biological mother from the very laboratory where Charlie was created. Now, those same activists have evolved into a dangerous terrorist faction with a singular, obsessive goal: abducting Charlie at any cost. As their threats escalate, his attempt at a typical teenage life is violently disrupted. Caught between his human family, his newfound friendship, and a relentless extremist force determined to claim him, Charlie faces a harrowing struggle to protect his identity and his future.
