Journal with Witch

Makio Koudai is a reclusive novelist who has long found solace in the quiet companionship of books rather than people. Her solitary existence is abruptly shattered when her sister and brother-in-law pass away, leaving Makio as the unexpected guardian of her fifteen-year-old niece, Asa Takumi. Thrust into a role she never anticipated, the introverted author must now navigate the profound responsibilities of raising a grieving teenager while managing her own sorrow. The transition is far from seamless. Makio and Asa possess vastly different personalities, leading to inevitable friction as they attempt to share a home. The weight of their shared loss compounds the everyday challenges of cohabitation, testing the patience and resilience of both the reluctant guardian and her young ward. Yet, beneath the tension lies a mutual need for connection during their darkest hour. As days turn into weeks, the initial barriers between them begin to erode. Through small, honest interactions, Makio and Asa gradually open their hearts to one another, learning to lean on each other for support. What starts as an obligation born of tragedy slowly transforms into something deeply meaningful, allowing both to discover genuine warmth, mutual understanding, and the true essence of family.
