Haight and Andrews are brilliant engineers on the verge of a historic nanotechnology breakthrough. When Haight develops a revolutionary application capable of curing diseases and improving human life, Andrews seeks to weaponize it for military use. Refusing to let his work be corrupted, Haight resigns and flees with all research documents. Enraged by this betrayal, Andrews and five deranged accomplices ambush him, brutally torturing Haight, murdering his loved ones, severing both of his arms, and leaving him for dead. Salvation arrives through a mysterious doctor and his assistant, who are researching an extraordinary phenomenon known as "The Zetsmos." This power allows a living person to control the spiritual essence within their body. Based on accounts from amputees who still feel and move phantom limbs, the Zetsmos enables the body to assimilate foreign matter—such as wood, paper, water, or metal—and reconstruct lost appendages. However, awakening this ability is agonizingly dangerous, requiring the bearer to push themselves to the very threshold between life and death. Driven by unimaginable loss, Haight willingly endures the harrowing process, determined to wield this unnatural power and hunt down every man responsible for turning his life into a living hell.
