In the futuristic year 2003, Japan has become a technological utopia where robots are ubiquitous. However, when Dr. Tenma's robot, Tobio, is deemed imperfect as a replacement for his deceased son, he is discarded and left for scrap. Fortunately, he is rescued by Professor Ochanomizu, a champion of robot civil rights, who renames the robot Astro Boy. With his seven super-abilities and 100,000 horsepower of strength, Astro Boy is tasked with defending Japan and the world from various evil threats, ultimately seeking to demonstrate the potential for good that all robots possess.
