Shinrei Tantei Yakumo: Akai Hitomi wa Shitteiru

Adapted from the novel by Manabu Kaminaga, Shinrei Tantei Yakumo: Akai Hitomi wa Shitteiru follows the life of Saitou Yakumo, a college student marked by an extraordinary physical trait. Born with heterochromia, his left eye is a striking shade of red—a feature that grants him the supernatural ability to perceive ghosts and spirits invisible to ordinary people. Rather than fearing these apparitions, Yakumo approaches them with quiet logic, believing that the deceased remain tethered to the mortal world only because of a specific unresolved cause. In his view, once that lingering attachment or reason is identified and eliminated, the restless spirits can finally find peace and move on. His unique gift transforms him into an unconventional investigator of the paranormal. The story takes shape when a young woman named Ozawa Haruka seeks out his help, desperate for answers that conventional methods cannot provide. Drawn into her plea, Yakumo partners with Haruka, and together they embark on a joint investigation. By combining his otherworldly sight with their shared determination, the two begin unraveling the hidden causes that bind the dead to the living, stepping into mysteries where the boundary between the spiritual and the physical blurs.
