When Moyoco Anno, a celebrated creator of women's manga, married Hideaki Anno—the visionary director behind Evangelion and a figure widely regarded as the quintessential otaku—she found herself facing a deeply personal question. Despite their undeniable connection as two of Japan's most prominent creative minds, she harbored one lingering doubt: was she truly prepared to become an otaku's wife? Rather than letting uncertainty define her new reality, she chose to embrace it entirely, plunging headfirst into the intricate and often bewildering landscape of married life alongside a man whose passions were legendary. The result is a comic essay that chronicles the private world shared by these two high-profile creators with remarkable honesty. Stripped of pretense and polished artifice, the narrative offers a raw, unfiltered glimpse into their daily existence together. What emerges is not just a story about navigating cultural differences within a marriage, but a beautifully candid exploration of love, compromise, and mutual understanding between two vastly different artistic spirits. Unforgettably hilarious and genuinely touching, this account transforms the unique challenges of their union into a compelling portrait of domestic life that resonates far beyond the boundaries of fandom.
