Fifteen centuries ago, Achilles stood as the most formidable swordsman in the Roman Empire. When whispers reached him of a legendary Japanese warrior named Takeru—who had traveled to China’s Tang Dynasty alongside a delegation of Japanese envoys—his curiosity was ignited. Driven by an unyielding desire to test his blade against this rumored eastern master, Achilles departed for the Silk Road, beginning a long journey toward the distant east. Meanwhile, Takeru accepted a daunting commission of his own: escorting a caravan of merchants safely across the treacherous expanse of the Silk Road. Setting out westward, he braced himself for the grueling trials that awaited along the ancient trade route. Unbeknownst to either man, their respective paths were destined to converge.
