Satsuma to Kainushi

Satsuma and Owner is a charming collection of comic strips based on the real-life experiences of Japanese manga artist O-Ji and his Northern White-Faced Owl, Satsuma. Through a series of engaging illustrations, the work chronicles the endearing daily challenges and humorous moments that come with caring for such an unconventional and spirited pet. Each strip offers a lighthearted glimpse into the unique dynamic between the creator and his feathered companion, capturing the unpredictable nature of living alongside a quirky bird. Over time, Satsuma has risen to remarkable internet fame, amassing a dedicated and widespread following across social media platforms such as Vine and Twitter. This digital popularity reflects the broad appeal of the owl's distinct personality and the heartwarming bond shared with O-Ji. The success of their online presence naturally paved the way for further literary endeavors documenting their life together. Prior to this collection, O-Ji authored another book centered entirely around his beloved pet, titled "Satsuma Fukuro Ga Iru Nichijou," which translates to The Everyday Life of the Owl, Satsuma. That earlier volume was officially published in January 2016, establishing a foundation for the continued storytelling that defines Satsuma and Owner.
