Aoba Riku transfers to a new high school due to his father's career, only to find that nothing about it is remotely ordinary. The headmaster's secretary exerts firm control over the institution while continually preaching the ideals of academic liberty, the faculty proves far more eccentric than any typical teaching staff, and roughly half the student body sports animal ears. On his inaugural morning, Riku has the misfortune of becoming the unwitting centerpiece of the student council's latest spectacle—an event that sends him fleeing for his very life. Between dodging that chaos and contending with the usual trials of high school—social hierarchies, romantic entanglements, and relentless homework—Riku quickly wonders whether he will make it through this semester alive.
