Shota Oni

The weight of a single, careless moment has defined Tsubaki’s entire childhood. Years ago, in a flash of childish recklessness, he left a lasting scar across the face of his best friend, Yuu. That permanent mark is a daily reminder of his failure, and rather than let guilt crush him, Tsubaki has molded it into an unshakable resolve. He has vowed to grow not just older, but stronger—to become a shield sturdy enough to protect the person he harmed, no matter the cost. But the world is not waiting for him to catch up. Yuu is already navigating the complexities of high school life, while Tsubaki remains a child in elementary school, trailing far behind in years and experience. To everyone else, his devotion is a childish crush, easily dismissed and outgrown. Yet for Tsubaki, it is anything but fleeting. Beneath his earnest, unpolished exterior burns a fierce conviction that his feelings are genuine and destined to be acknowledged. He clings to the belief that, with enough time and unwavering persistence, Yuu will eventually see past their age difference and the painful history they share. One day, Tsubaki is certain, Yuu will not only forgive him but will finally turn around and lean on him as the dependable protector he is so desperately trying to become.
