Encouraged by two of their friends, high school students Natsu and Kumiko decide to dive into the popular MMORPG "Apocalypse Online." Upon logging in for the very first time, the pair is unexpectedly rewarded with a rare set of items known as marriage rings. These special accessories grant them unique gameplay bonuses whenever they remain close to one another within the virtual world, effectively binding their avatars together in a digital partnership. For Natsu, this accidental union is nothing more than an amusing quirk of the game—a convenient mechanic that simply makes playing together more enjoyable. She treats the situation lightly, viewing their virtual marriage as a humorous coincidence rather than something meaningful. However, Kumiko experiences the arrangement quite differently. Beneath her casual exterior, she harbors genuine romantic feelings for her friend. While Natsu laughs off their linked status, Kumiko quietly yearns for their in-game relationship to transcend the screen and blossom into reality.
