Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru

Kakeru was once an elite high school runner, but his promising athletic career has since derailed. Now on the run after being caught stealing food, he finds himself cornered and desperate. His escape takes an unexpected turn when he is rescued by Haiji, a fellow runner and student at Kansei University. Recognizing Kakeru’s raw talent, Haiji offers him more than just a way out of trouble; he invites him to move into Chikuseisou, an aging university apartment building. Haiji harbors an ambitious vision for the residence. He intends to assemble the building's occupants into a competitive relay team capable of entering the Hakone Ekiden Marathon, one of the most prestigious and grueling university races in all of Japan. With Kakeru now under his roof, Haiji believes they have the foundation needed to attempt this monumental challenge. However, Kakeru quickly discovers a glaring flaw in Haiji’s grand plan. While both he and Haiji possess serious running backgrounds, the rest of the residents living in Chikuseisou are complete novices with no prior experience in competitive athletics. Faced with a group of untrained amateurs and the daunting expectations of a legendary race, Kakeru must decide whether to embrace this unlikely team or walk away from the sport entirely.
