Summary

Official Details
The story follows Maru, a cat adopted from an animal shelter in Matsuyama City by a young girl named Anna. Under his new family's care, Maru enjoys a life of comfort and affection. Well-fed and deeply loved, he gradually grows rounder each day, content to spend his time resting by the window and gazing out at the garden beyond. However, this peaceful existence is disrupted when the household welcomes a second cat named Cerisier. As the family begins showering the newcomer with attention, Maru finds himself consumed by jealousy. A confrontation between the two cats escalates, and during the altercation, Maru is deeply wounded—not physically, but by the harsh words directed at him by the very family he adores. Heartbroken by their rejection, Maru encounters another cat who encourages him to leave his familiar surroundings behind. Taking this advice to heart, the once-pampered feline makes the difficult decision to step away from the only home he has known, setting out on a journey to explore the wider world and discover what lies beyond the garden window.
