In the year 0088 of the Universal Century, the assault cruiser Argama docks at the space colony of Shangri-La for much-needed repairs. While in drydock, a young junk dealer named Judau Ashta sneaks aboard to steal the Zeta Gundam, intending to sell it to help his sister. However, he is coerced into joining the Argama's crew instead. As the Argama is pursued by Neo Zeon officer Mashymre Cello, Judau must master the mobile suit ZZ Gundam to protect himself and his sister.
