Nice to Meet You, Snake Woman

Originally serialized in Ghostly Magazine Yuu, this anthology gathers nineteen chilling tales that weave together supernatural folklore, psychological unease, and visceral horror. From the titular opening story—a haunting encounter with a serpentine woman—to a cascade of nightmares involving spectral butterflies, cursed photographs, and the ever-watching evil eye, each narrative explores the fragile boundary between the everyday and the otherworldly. Characters are drawn into unsettling situations: a young man confronts the reason behind his anorexia, a woman is pursued through a forest in a dark reimagining of Snow White, and a family faces the creeping dread of something that has returned from beyond. As the collection progresses, recurring motifs of transformation, obsession, and suppressed guilt surface across its diverse vignettes. Whether it is the ghost of a schoolgirl lurking behind a classmate, a mysterious drawing that blurs art with reality, or a desperate plea to be believed in the face of inexplicable phenomena, the stories sustain a tense, atmospheric grip. Each tale stands alone yet collectively forms a mosaic of Japanese horror, blending classic ghost story tropes with raw, intimate fears that linger long after the final page.
