Shounen no Kyoukai

Yuka and Kaoru have shared a close bond since childhood, navigating the early years of their lives together as inseparable friends. However, their dynamic is far from balanced; while Yuka moves through the world with ease, Kaoru has always been defined by a timid and quiet nature, often lingering in the background. This delicate friendship reaches a turning point when the two enter middle school. Eager to establish a new identity and distance themselves from the past, Yuka makes the deliberate choice to ignore Kaoru entirely, leaving their once-cherished connection behind. Yet, the distance Yuka tries to enforce proves difficult to maintain as both students face the inevitable milestones of adolescence. When the time arrives for their school's mandatory gender examination—a deeply personal and vulnerable rite of passage—the carefully constructed walls between them begin to crack. The looming physical evaluations force both Yuka and Kaoru to confront not only their changing bodies but also the unresolved tension of their fractured relationship.
