Shiroyama to Mita-san

Tatsuhiko Shiroyama despises his life in the rural countryside, where superficial pleasantries from strangers feel insincere and part-time employment opportunities are scarce. His awkward attempts at socializing have only earned him the unflattering nickname "Niyayama" among classmates, reinforcing his isolation and unsociable reputation. Seeking refuge from his dreary reality, he immerses himself in radio broadcasts while fixating on a singular goal: saving enough money to relocate to Tokyo and pursue his true passions. His monotonous existence takes an unexpected turn when he rescues a wealthy CEO from a rice paddy, an act of kindness that leads to an arranged relationship with the man’s granddaughter, Tamiko Mita. Despite being equally shy and socially withdrawn, Tamiko becomes his unlikely partner as they navigate the confusing complexities of dating together. Through their shared struggles and gradual emotional connection, Tatsuhiko’s once-bleak days begin to transform, offering him a newfound sense of hope and brightness in a life he previously wished to escape.
