Amid the desolate wasteland near the Himalayan Mountains, two downed fighter pilots from opposing nations find themselves locked in a bitter handgun duel. Their relentless exchange of gunfire is abruptly interrupted by an astonishing sight: a tiger emerges carrying a human infant in its jaws. Setting aside their enmity, the soldiers forge a temporary truce to rescue the child and dispatch the predator. Once the immediate threat is neutralized, they establish a grim gentleman’s agreement—whichever man survives their resumed firefight will assume responsibility for the baby’s life. The Japanese pilot ultimately prevails in the deadly standoff. However, upon retrieving the infant, he makes a startling discovery: the child possesses a massive tail. He names the boy Rikiya, or “Ricky” for short, and transports him back to Tokyo. There, Ricky is raised as an ordinary human, though his true origins are far from mundane. He is actually one of the “Zero Men,” members of a highly advanced subterranean civilization composed of squirrel-like beings who dwell deep beneath the Himalayas.
