Midnight

Midnight follows the life of Shinya Mito, a dedicated taxi driver whose very name translates to "midnight" in Japanese. Beneath his routine profession lies a profound personal burden. Shinya works tirelessly behind the wheel for one singular purpose: to fund the medical treatment of a young woman named Mari. Sometime in the past, an accident for which Shinya was directly responsible left Mari with severe brain injuries. Driven by guilt and an unwavering sense of duty, he channels all his efforts into earning enough money to ensure she receives the care she desperately needs. To navigate the demanding streets efficiently, Shinya operates a highly specialized taxi equipped with a unique fifth wheel. This custom mechanical modification grants his vehicle exceptional maneuverability, allowing him to handle any road conditions he might encounter during his shifts. As he drives through the city, Shinya crosses paths with a diverse array of passengers. Rather than simply ferrying them to their destinations, he becomes deeply involved in their lives, offering each individual guidance and assistance tailored to their specific struggles. Through these encounters, Midnight weaves a compelling narrative about redemption, human connection, and one man's relentless drive to atone for his past mistakes while quietly transforming the lives of those who ride in his cab.
